MACON, Ga. – A double-overtime victory over Kennesaw State helped the University of North Florida Men’s Basketball team punch its ticket to the upcoming 2012 General Shale Brick Atlantic Sun Basketball Championship on Saturday.
UNF (14-15, 8-8) defeated the Owls (3-23, 0-14) 81-77 to bring its conference record to .500 and to become the fifth team to claim a spot in the upcoming championship. UNF has advanced to the tournament the last two seasons, advancing to the championship game last year as a No. 6 seed before falling to regular season champion Belmont.
UNF joins Belmont, Mercer, USC Upstate and FGCU in the eventual field of eight for men’s championship. Game times and seedings for the 2012 General Shale Brick Atlantic Sun Basketball Championship are TBA.
